Delete Pages

Delete Pages is a free, browser-based tool that removes pages from a PDF and rebuilds the document without them. Instead of reprinting, rescanning or asking someone to "just ignore page undefined," you strip out the pages you do not want and download a clean file that ends up exactly as it should.

The tool works by copying every page you keep into a new PDF and leaving out the ones you selected. Text stays selectable, images keep their resolution, and embedded fonts and vector graphics are carried over intact - pages are copied as objects rather than flattened to images. The pages you keep stay in their original order, so removing page undefined simply closes the gap between page undefined and page undefined.

Everything happens on this page. Your PDF is read directly in the browser with the File API and processed by an in-page PDF library, so no document is ever sent to a server. That makes it safe for contracts, medical forms, bank statements and anything else you would rather not upload.

Desktop PDF editors can delete pages too, but they are heavy, often paid, and far more than you need to drop a couple of blank scans. An online tool is instant: open the page, pick the pages, download the result. There is nothing to install, and it behaves the same on Windows, macOS, Linux, Chromebooks and phones.

The usual worry with web tools is privacy. Many free "delete PDF pages" sites upload your file to their servers to do the work, which is a real problem when the document holds personal or commercial information. You also get page thumbnails to check exactly what you are removing before you commit, so you do not delete the wrong page by number. Start by opening your file. Drag it onto the drop zone or click to browse; the PDF loads locally and its pages appear as thumbnails.

Next, select what to remove. Tick the blank cover sheet, the duplicate scan, the internal notes page - whatever should not be in the final document. Because you are choosing from thumbnails rather than typing page numbers, it is easy to confirm you have the right pages, even in a long file. You can select a single page or many in one pass.

When your selection looks right, click Delete. The tool builds a new PDF from the pages you kept, preserving their order and their original page sizes, so a mix of Aundefined and Letter pages each keep their dimensions. Finally, download the trimmed file. If you find you removed too much, just reload the original - it was never changed - and try again.

Deleting pages comes up constantly in everyday document work:

• Blank pages from scanners: remove the empty back sides that appear when scanning double-sided originals in simplex mode.
• Duplicate pages: drop a page that was scanned or exported twice before sending the file on.
• Cover and separator sheets: strip fax cover pages, "this page intentionally left blank" sheets or department separators.
• Internal notes and drafts: remove reviewer comments, pricing notes or a rough first page before sharing externally.
• Trimming long reports: cut appendices or sections a particular recipient does not need, keeping the file focused and smaller.
• Fixing merged files: after combining PDFs, delete any stray pages that slipped into the bundle.

In each case the payoff is the same: a tidy, correct document that is smaller and easier to read, send and archive.

A few habits make page deletion quick and safe:

• Check the thumbnails, not the numbers. Selecting visually avoids the classic off-by-one mistake where you delete page undefined when you meant page undefined.
• Keep the original. Deleting builds a new file and leaves your source PDF untouched, so you can always start over if you cut too much.
• Remove blanks in one pass. If a scan has many empty back sides, select them all before clicking Delete rather than deleting one at a time.
• Delete before you compress. Fewer pages already means a smaller file; if it is still large, run the result through Compress PDF as a separate step.
• Don't delete what you can rotate. A sideways page usually needs rotating, not removing - use Rotate PDF so you keep the content.
• Work offline for sensitive files. Since nothing is uploaded, you can disconnect from the network entirely and the tool still deletes pages.
