What is Loan / EMI Calculator?
Loan / EMI Calculator is a free, browser-based tool that works out your Equated Monthly Installment - the fixed amount you repay every month on a loan. You give it three inputs: the principal (how much you borrow), the annual interest rate, and the tenure (how long you take to repay). It returns the monthly EMI, the total interest you will pay, and the total amount payable.
EMI is the standard way home loans, car loans, and personal loans are structured. Each installment is the same size, but its makeup changes over time: early payments are mostly interest, while later ones are mostly principal. This calculator uses the standard reducing-balance formula that banks use, so the numbers you see match what a lender would quote.

Why use an online loan / emi calculator?
Working out an EMI by hand means applying a formula with exponents and a monthly interest rate - easy to get wrong, and tedious to repeat for every "what if". An online calculator gives you the exact figure in a second and lets you compare options side by side: a shorter tenure, a lower rate, or a bigger down payment.

How the EMI is calculated
The tool uses the standard reducing-balance EMI formula:
EMI = P * r * (1 + r)^n / ((1 + r)^n - 1)
Here P is the principal, n is the number of monthly installments, and r is the monthly interest rate - the annual rate divided by undefined and by undefined. For example, an annual rate of undefined% becomes r = 0.01 per month.
Suppose you borrow undefined,P = 500000 at undefined% for undefined years. That is P = 500000, r = 0.10 / 12 = 0.008333, and n = 60. Plugging in gives an EMI of about undefined,undefined per month. Over undefined months you repay roughly undefined,undefined in total, of which about undefined,undefined is interest.
Because the balance reduces each month, the interest portion of every EMI shrinks while the principal portion grows. That is why the tool can also show an amortization view - the running split of principal and interest across the whole tenure.

Tips & best practices
Enter the net principal - the price minus your down payment - not the full asset value, or your EMI will read high.
Use the exact rate your lender quotes, and confirm whether it is fixed or floating. A floating rate can change over the life of the loan, so treat the EMI as a snapshot at today's rate.
Don't judge a loan by the monthly figure alone. Always look at the total interest: stretching the tenure lowers the EMI but can add substantially to what you pay overall. Aim for the shortest tenure whose EMI you can comfortably afford.

Enter the annual rate that your lender quotes, such as 9.5. The calculator converts it to the monthly rate internally by dividing by 12, so you don't need to do that step yourself.

No. The result is the pure principal-and-interest EMI. Lenders may add processing fees, insurance, or taxes on top, so budget slightly above the figure the calculator shows.
